The Senior Sales Executive – Automotive Lab Sales is responsible for driving business growth by promoting and selling specialized laboratory testing services to the automotive industry. This role requires a blend of strong technical understanding and commercial acumen to effectively communicate the value of services including Metrology, Mechanical Testing, Climatic & IP Testing, Vibration Testing, and Electrical & Electronics (E&E) Testing.
The Sales Executive will identify and acquire new clients such as OEMs, Tier-1/Tier-2 suppliers, automotive electronics manufacturers, and R&D centers. The role demands deep knowledge of testing standards (ISO, ASTM, IEC, SAE, LV124/125, and OEM-specific protocols), customer requirements, and automotive validation processes. The position serves as the primary interface between customers and internal lab teams, ensuring accurate proposals, timely project execution, and superior customer experience. The ideal candidate is technically proficient, customer-focused, highly organized, and capable of independently driving sales targets in a fast-paced environment.
Duties & Responsibilities
1. Sales & Business Development
Drive revenue growth by promoting automotive laboratory testing services to new and existing clients.
Identify, qualify, and secure new business opportunities with OEMs, Tier-1/Tier-2 suppliers, automotive electronics companies, and R&D centers.
Manage the sales pipeline with strategic planning, lead prioritization, and structured follow-up.
Achieve assigned monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets.
2. Technical Sales & Proposal Development
Promote a full suite of specialized lab services, including:
Metrology: Dimensional inspection, calibration, Q&DT, CMM services.
Mechanical Testing: Tensile, compression, fatigue, hardness, impact, material characterization.
Climatic & IP Testing: Temperature/humidity cycling, thermal shock, dust/water ingress (IPx) testing.
Vibration Testing: Sine, random vibration, shock, and combined environment testing.
Electrical & Electronics (E&E): EMC/EMI, functional testing, electrical endurance, and reliability tests.
Prepare technical and commercial proposals tailored to customer specifications and test requirements.
Recommend appropriate testing methods based on industry standards (ISO, ASTM, IEC, SAE, LV124/125, OEM-specific test plans).
3. Customer Relationship Management
Serve as the primary point of contact between customers and internal laboratory teams.
Build strong, long-term relationships through reliable communication, technical guidance, and consistent customer support.
Understand customer pain points related to product durability, compliance, validation, and reliability testing.
Coordinate project details including sample readiness, scheduling, execution, and delivery of final reports.
4. Market Awareness & Industry Expertise
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of automotive testing regulations, compliance requirements, and industry trends.
Provide feedback to management on new market opportunities, competitor activities, customer needs, and potential service expansions.
5. Internal Collaboration
Work closely with lab engineers, metrology specialists, project coordinators, and program managers to ensure proposal accuracy and project feasibility.
Participate in internal planning, technical discussions, and resource allocation related to customer projects.
6. Marketing & Representation
Support the marketing team by representing the company during trade shows, exhibitions, technical conferences, and promotional activities.
Deliver presentations and technical explanations to customer engineering and purchasing departments.
7. Reporting, Forecasting & Administration
Contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and revenue planning based on live market data and customer activity.
Maintain accurate records in CRM platforms, including customer interactions, proposals, pipelines, and opportunities.
Prepare sales reports, market analysis updates, and performance summaries for management review.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical field.
Experience: Minimum 10 years of sales experience in automotive testing, laboratory services, metrology, or industrial engineering.
Strong understanding of testing standards (ISO, IEC, SAE, ASTM, OEM specs).
Support customers in selecting appropriate testing methods based on standards such as ISO, ASTM, IEC, SAE, LV124/125, and OEM-specific test plans.
Experience with testing equipment or services such as environmental chambers, vibration shakers, and E&E test systems is highly preferred.
Promoting the lab services through the region and achieve a sales target.
